One Year, One Word: Name

Each year at First Baptist Church of Norristown, we have a single word that we reflect on and are actively pursuing as a church. This year, our word is NAME.

Our verse for the year is Philippians 2:9-10 (NIV), which says, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

and gave him the NAME that is above every NAME, that at the NAME of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”

Name

Pastor CG introduces us to our theme word for the year: NAME. We're encouraged to take a look at the meaning and history of our NAMES as well as the various NAMES of God.

January – February

Jesus

As we begin the Lenten journey to the cross, Pastor CG encourages us to ask: "What if the most powerful thing we carry into Lent is the NAME we already know: Jesus?"

February - April

Ruth

In this series, we examine God at work in the small, ordinary moments of life. The NAME Ruth means "friend," reminding us that we have a friend in both the big and small moments of our lives.

April - May

Who!?

Some of the NAMES and books of the Bible are more difficult to remember than others. Pastor CG reminds us that even the most obscure Bible books and NAMES point us to Jesus.

May - June

2 Peter

This series focuses on Peter, who calls Christians to grow in Christ, reject false teachings, and live faithfully while waiting for Jesus' return.

July - August

Jonah

Pastor CG reminds us that we cannot outrun God. Jonah ran from God, was pursued by His grace, and learned that His mercy is far greater than our own.

August - September

Immersed

Pastor CG teaches us that when we are immersed in baptism, we publicly declare that we belong to Jesus

and are ready to live immersed in His way, His mission, and His name.

September - October
